Creative Theatre

ROSOA offers Creative Theatre classes within two age ranges.
Juniors Class
suited to those in school years
Reception to Year 2
Performance Opportunity: Annual Show
IDR Badges: Early and Primary level Musical Theatre Badges are awarded Termly.
RSL/PAA Exams: Premiere and Debut level Musical Theatre exam opportunities biannually - Next exam postponed due to Covid-19.
This is our youngest drop off class, these sessions use stories and songs to help build a foundation for performing musical theatre numbers. Often within this class, children will head off on drama adventures where they can take their story their own way with lots of opportunity for imagination and creativity. Show term is usually September to December with creative skills being taught January - July.

Seniors Class
Suited to those in school years 3 to year 11.

IDR Badges: Primary, Level 1 - Level 5 Musical Theatre Badges are awarded Termly.
RSL/PAA Exams: Grade 1 and Grade 2 Musical Theatre exam opportunities biannually - Next exam Spring 2021
This is the next step up from our junior sessions, these sessions continue to build confidence through the use of monologues, script work and improvisation as well as dance and vocal technique for theatre performance. Students will explore a variety of styles of theatre and be introduced to a number of musicals and characters along the way. Show term is usually September to December with creative skills being taught January - July.
Please Note: Due to covid-19 our regular sessions are adapting to suit the government guidelines and are running on very reduced capacity.
There will also be no annual performance for 2020.
We will release further information on alternative plans to our students asap.

Class places have a 1 term commitment.
Fees are paid in two half termly instalments.
As a result of Covid-19 we are currently operating a waiting list for all classes, we will be accepting new trials as soon as capacity restrictions have been reduced.

Dance Grooves

ROSOA offer a fun and high energy street dance class giving students a solid foundation to build their skills in line with popular styles of dance such as House, Break and Locking.
1st Stage Dance Grooves
Suited to those in school years
Reception to Year 2
Performance Opportunity: Annual Show & some external opportunities
IDR Badges: Prelim and primary 'Funky Feet' Badges are awarded Termly.
RSL/PAA Exams: There are no exam options at this level.
This class is a great introduction to the street dance genre, learning the core elements for street dance, working on basic technique and groove and preparation to move into our graded class.
Our Street dancers perform in our annual show and where possible we will also offer out external opportunities - some of our 1st stage students took to the stage at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham of February 2020 working alongside our 2nd stage dancers, an amazing achievement for all involved.

2nd Stage Dance Grooves

year 2 to Year 13
Performance Opportunity: Annual Show & External opportunities
IDR Badges: Level 1 - 5 Street Dance badges are awarded termly.
RSL/PAA Exams: We follow the RSL syllabus for House, locking and Break, the class is mixed ability in terms of grades with extended sessions for those working towards higher grades.
This class looks at learning and retaining choreography as both a solo performer and a group performer, following the RSL street syllabus to enhance technique. Exams are not compulsory but we have found our students have really enjoyed the style of group exam that comes with the RSL syllabus.
Our Street dancers perform in our annual show and where possible we will also offer out external opportunities - some of our students took to the stage at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham of February 2020 working alongside our younger 1st stage dancers, an amazing achievement for all involved. 2020 also saw a team of 2nd stage dancers perform at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury as part of a national showcase.

Spotlight Theatre
Rehearsals are added to the timeable to suit the performance.
Bridgnorth
Spotlight' is our performance team - members are welcome to join alongside our creative theatre and dance classes or attend as a standalone session. This class features a mixed age range of students in school years year 1 - year 13.
Within this session we rehearse our main cast for our bigger productions suchas our sell out show in 2019 - 'Matilda' the abridged version.
Our next show is planned to be Madagascar Jr.
Originally planned for December 2020 this has been postponed to 2021 date TBC, subject to government guidelines.
Performance Opportunity: Summer awards concert, Annual Show plus additional external opportunities.
IDR Badges: Primary - Level 5 Musical Theatre badges are awarded termly.
RSL/PAA Exams: Grades 1-5 exam opportunities offered biannually (Students attending Creative Theatre will take their exam using sample performances from both classes),
our next exam has been postponed due to Covid-19.
Timetable:
Usually this session takes place on Friday's at Bridgnorth Leisure Centre.
Due to Covid -19 this class will not be running until we are able to put on productions again.
As soon as government guidelines allow, we will resume as normal.
